Preventative care
A boy does not have to be using
drugs to need attention.
"Prevention is not just a slogan, its a principle that must be implemented at every level"
With two separate entrances overseen by trained staff and different times for different programmes, the boys (age 13-18) in each zone will not mix. We are looking to you to help us to reach our struggling youth before they reach crisis stage - a hole that no boy should have to fall in to, or climb out of.
RED FLAG SYSTEM
The Red Flag System is a crucial safeguard for our youth and a way to spot issues before they escalate.
The Red Flag System will have two main functions, suicide + self harm prevention and development support.
We will partner with local high schools and youth organisations and create a legal way to share data. We will train them on what details they need to share with our school liaison officer regarding any worries about youths' development that could harm their chances of succeeding as valuable members of society. These worries will be entered and monitored in the system. We will cooperate with the school/youth organisation, parents and other specialists to ensure a powerful support plan is put into action when needed.
The Red Flag System is important because it:
- Protects our youth from harm and helps them cope with challenges
- Identifies issues early and prevents them from worsening
- Provides tailored and effective support for each individual
- Promotes positive mental health and well-being
- Empowers our youth to thrive as productive members of society
-Strengthens the resilience and coping skills of our youth
-Fosters a culture of care and compassion among peers and adults
-Builds the capacity and confidence of our youth to seek help when needed
-Creates a safe and supportive environment for our youth to grow and learn
Preventive youth are typically:
We believe that the best way to help young people is to stop problems before they start. Our research reveals that many young people could benefit from early intervention and support to avoid falling into crisis situations. These are situations where they may face homelessness, violence, addiction, mental health issues, or other serious challenges that could harm their well-being and future prospects.
That’s why we will focus on providing preventative services that empower young people to overcome challenges and thrive in life. These services will include mentoring, counselling, education, employment, recreation, and community engagement. We aim to help young people develop their skills, confidence, resilience, and positive relationships.
We wil also work closely with local schools and organisations. We will collaborate with them to identify and reach out to young people who are at risk of harm or distress. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our youth.
